Mortgage is the first episode of Series Two of Not Going Out and originally aired on 7 September, 2007.
Synopsis[]
Tim decides to sell the flat, so Lee sets to work putting off prospective buyers, including Tim's sister - Lucy.
Plot[]
Kate has gone back to America. Tim, looking to sell the apartment, hires a cleaner - Barbara (Miranda Hart), to prepare it for sale. Lee, not wanting to leave, looks to get a mortgage so to buy the apartment himself and scares off potential buyers while he tries to get it organised. Tim's sister - Lucy (Sally Bretton) has moved back to London and looks to rent the spare room. Lee - unaware Lucy is Tim's sister - lets her stay, but Lucy grows to like the apartment and wants to buy it as well. In the end, Lee's mortgage falls through and Tim sells it to Lucy, on the condition that she let Lee remain staying there.

- This episode is the first appearance of Lucy.
- It also marks the first episode since the departure of Megan Dodds' character, Kate.
- Miranda Hart returns to the cast of Not Going Out as a regular character after portraying an acupuncturist in the episode Stress.
- An excerpt of the episode is shown in the series 7 finale, Wedding as Lee recollects the moment that he first met Lucy.

Filming locations[]
- The scene where Tim is on his balcony relieved after Lucy has moved out, was filmed next to Molesey Boat Club, near Hampton Court Palace. The balcony at the top of the second image is where Tim stood.
